Social

Serena’s travertine carries an important social dimension. Our quarrying activities are closely connected to local communities in the Peruvian highlands, where we work alongside local authorities to create employment opportunities and support economic development.
Stonework has a millennia-old tradition in Peru, particularly in the central Andes. At elevations of approximately 3,500 to 4,500 meters, local communities continue to participate actively in quarrying activities, with block extraction providing an important source of employment in the region.
